Orphans live differently from children who know they’re loved. Self-preservation and self-promotion are not the driving points of the behavior of healthy children. Instead, the secure child is more inclined to celebrate the gift of another without fighting for the attention himself. All around us are orphans. It doesn’t matter if we’re talking about our neighbors, our bosses, our friends in church, or the conflict in the Middle East, or even the battle between political parties—we are being led and fed by orphans. They have no answers. They just have different ways of deadening the pain. People of God, now is the time to rise up. We have the privilege to know this wonderful Father for ourselves and deal once and for all with the part of us that wants, to hoard all the food on our plates. And from our personal victory we have the privilege to make Him known, giving the chance for others to experience Him for themselves.

Jesus gave the following assignment to His disciples: “As the Father has sent Me, I also send you” (John 20:21). Hopefully you can see by now that the assignment given to Jesus was to reveal the Father. In this passage, Jesus passes on this part of His assignment to us, and in doing so, He defines our purpose in much the same way as His. We still live in a world that He loves. This world is filled with people who will never really know their right hand from their left. The perspective on the values of Heaven only really comes to those who know the Father and that that Father is good.
